How to Enable USB Debugging Mode?

The modifications you make to your device, you need to enable USB debugging mode. We tell you how to do it.

USB Debugging is required by adb, which is used for rooting, backing up, installing a custom ROM, taking screenshots from computer and more. To enable the USB debugging mode of operation may vary depending on the device model and version of Android. However, most devices in the same way.

Description for each device separately, but we have no real chance to collect all versions in a single housing.

Android 2.0 – 2.3.x

Go to Setting>Application>Development. Then tap the “USB Debugging” checkbox.

Android 4.0 – 4.1.x

Go to Settings>Developer Options. Tap to “USB Debugging” checkbox.

Android 4.2 and Higher

In Android 4.2 and higher versions, the Developer Options menu and USB Debugging option have been hidden. In former 4.2.X and higher versions of Android, USB Debugging option is under Developer Options menu.

First, you need to enable “Developer Options Menu”.

Go to Settings>About phone. Scroll down to the bottom of the “About phone” and locate the “Build Number” field. Then tap on the build number to seven times faster option. When you are done, you’ll see the message “You are now a developer!”. “Developers options” will now see in the settings menu.

Now, you can enable USB Debugging Mode.

Go to Settings>Developer Options>USB Debugging. Tap the” USB Debugging” checkbox.

Android 5.0 – 5.1.x

To enable USB Debugging on Android 5.0 Lollipop is the same as Android 4.2.x.

  • Settings > About Phone > Build number > Tap it 7 times to become developer;.
  • Go to Settings > Developer Options.  Tap the” USB Debugging” checkbox.  Then select the check box opened.

Android 6.0

In Android 6.0 and higher versions, the Developer Options menu and USB Debugging option have been hidden. In former 4.2.X and higher versions of Android, USB Debugging option is under Developer Options menu.

  • Settings > About Phone > Build number > Tap it 7 times to become developer;.
  • Go to Settings > Developer Options.  Tap the” USB Debugging” checkbox.  Then select the check box opened.
